In my 4 years at a Pandora in the US- I have seen many things. The silver tarnishes very quickly- it’s very odd.

Not everyone knows this, but you should store your jewelry in a ziplock baggy- that will prolong the tarnishing process. As most of you probably know, each store is a franchise- so they all have different rules they implement. For instance- the store I worked at would literally exchange any defective- no matter how old- as long as we still had the same item to replace it. After reading these reviews- it’s clear that so many stores SUCK at caring for their customers.

No exchange without a receipt? We could look them up!! There are a few items that seem to break more than others- the leather bracelets are cute, but can only handle the weight of a couple charms. The only thing that is holding the bracelet together is some apoxy- so every time you bathe in your bracelet/get it wet- you’re jeopardizing the structural integrity of it.

Another thing you should stay away from are any of the heart clasp bracelets. They break the most! The sturdiest ones would be the barrel bracelets, or the regular bangle with a round clasp. Pandora used to have such beautiful jewelry- made with awesome sterling silver (that really didn’t tarnish), and natural gemstones.

Now they’re not using nearly as much silver in their designs and have stopped using genuine gemstones as they say it “cuts down on cost and makes it more affordable for the customer.” And the “Pandora Rose” is something else that just doesn’t last. As pretty as it is now- soon it will turn a dark color and that can’t be cleaned off. Sometimes even the playing will flake off and you’re stuck with a chippy looking item. Another thing is that they’re constantly raising the price of their items.

At least 3x a year the prices go up (some do go down, but not a lot!) to now it seems a ring that started out selling for $30 is going for double! The craftsmanship is just not what it used to be. The gold charms don’t weigh as much as the old ones and they’re all filled with cheap CZs. I truly liked the things they were coming up with years ago- but now it’s just cheap, plated, and full of defects!

Sorry for the rant- I just figured I’d let you all know what I knew. Pandora- please go back to your original ways!

Like the tied together collection, love pods, and please please make more items in solid 14k! There’s no selection now- a yellow gold bolo bracelet would be gorgeous!

Thanks for reading, y’all, keep being wonderful

My bracelet looked like it had a gap and turned black. I took it to the Pandora store to have it cleaned.

Less than a week later it turned black again. I took it back again. I bought the bracelet 1-1/2 years ago, but they replaced it. It is the barrel-clasped silver bracelet.

I also have a full Pandora from 7 years ago. Never had any problems with that one!

Hello!Thank you for your detailed comments. Very helpful for me, a prospective customer.

My wife was never into Pandora but she got excited with the shine.

So this review is helpful. When would you say the craftmanship started to deteriorate? And have you noticed whether there has been a change for the better/worse with the new collections launched in 2018. Certainly on the outside they look a bit different than the past?

Hi! I’m the original poster of this!

I’m sorry to just now see your comment! I would say it started declining after about 2010. You can tell just by looking at their older items vs their new ones. They use less metal and aren’t using genuine stones.

They used to make such beautiful natural gemstone pieces with lots of sterling silver and gold! Truly heavy and sturdy pieces. Now everything is so light weight and cheaply made. I believe the quality of the 2018 isn’t very good.

After I left pandora, I worked at a store that carried it as well, so I am familiar with most of their earlier collections up until about October of this year as I left that store too haha! I had to get out of corporate jewelry sales. Anyway, I would say it’s definitely changing for the worse. Sure, some of the designs are cute, but they are NOT made to last.

They are making such delicate pieces that they break way too easily, or the stones fall out super easily because not enough metal is holding them securely. I’m also very put off by their new Shine collection.

As a long time pandora wearer, I totally agree! The change is obvious since they began opening their mall stores.

The charms are now breaking and they are not wanting to stand behind their warranties.

The special edition charms are breaking and there are no replacements. It’s very discouraging !

I couldn’t agree with you more, Laura! Same with the special edition bangles!

Holy cow were there a lot of problems with those! I hate to say it but Pandora is on its way out.

Not to mention they just had that awful stock crash. It was fun in the early days!
